Nilavena Subregional Health Clinic is one of two rural community health clinics managed by Southcentral Foundation (the other one being McGrath). It is located at the village of Iliamna, near the shores of Lake Iliamna, on the west side of Cook Inlet. From the Athabascan word meaning “Lake with Islands,” Nilavena serves the residents of the villages surrounding this large body of water, while providing guidance for the smaller clinics at some of these locations.
Housed in a spacious new building, Nilavena Clinic opened its doors in 2003 and currently serves an average of 16 customers per day, regardless of their ethnic background or ability to pay.
