PEDIATRIC CLINIC

The Pediatric Clinic at the Anchorage Native Primary Care Center provides primary care and specialty consultative care for children. Staffed by pediatric physicians and pediatric nurse practitioners, the Clinic sees children for the full range of childhood conditions and issues, including:

  • “well-baby” exams
  • common childhood diseases
  • minor bumps and bruises

At times, the provider may want to refer the child on to a more specialized provider or clinic (such as endocrine or orthopedic); however, any ongoing care will be coordinated through the Pediatric Clinic.

Parents may enroll their children with a provider at either the Pediatric Clinic or the Family Medicine Clinic. Both clinics support family choice on this matter and assure that pediatricians are always available for consultation with either option.

Supporting the providers in delivering care at the Pediatric Clinic are RN case managers, certified medical assistants (CMA), behavioral health consultants, and case management support staff.

Children often come to the Pediatric Clinic between their normal appointments for “Kiddie Labs” with the CMAs. At this time they can....

  • get their blood drawn for lab tests
  • receive immunizations
  • have their teeth treated with fluoride varnish.

In their role as “field health specialists,” the providers at the Pediatric Clinic also dispense consultative services to health care providers throughout the state.
