Inpatient Pediatric Services

The Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) Inpatient Pediatrics Department is jointly owned and managed by Southcentral Foundation and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). Southcentral Foundation and ANTHC both provide physician staffing, including Southcentral Foundation's eight pediatric hospitalists and ANTHC's three pediatric intensivists. This team is fully credentialed and has received the highest level of training in providing care for hospitalized children.

Inpatient pediatric services are provided in a 19-bed unit; all of which can be converted to intensive care beds if needed.  Additionally, ANMC offers a 12-bed Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and a 17-bed newborn nursery. Southcentral Foundation's pediatric hospitalists are available around-the-clock to assist in high-risk deliveries.  In addition to caring for children while they are admitted to ANMC, both the hospitalists and intensivists provide 24-hour telephone consultation to outlying providers to answer pediatric questions and to assist in transferring pediatric patients to ANMC for further care.
